As part of its commitment to strengthening communities by addressing critical needs that help advance racial equality and economic opportunity, Bank of America provided $6,465,220 to more than 130 nonprofits across Miami, Broward, and Palm Beach counties in 2021. The funds were focused on closing the equity and wealth gaps in communities of color and other disadvantaged populations disproportionately impacted by the ongoing pandemic. The company’s local philanthropic endeavors were intended to address food insecurity, basic needs, workforce development, affordable housing, small business, healthcare and education.
“While the pandemic has taken a toll on us all, there’s no doubt it has had a disproportionate impact on the communities already grappling with the effects of economic and social inequality,” says Gene Schaefer (pictured), president of Bank of America Miami. “The private sector has a responsibility to provide support that can serve as a catalyst to help advance equality and economic opportunity for everyone.”
