Apogee Awards Honorees: Scott Harris

Scott Harris is the founder and CEO of DeliverLean, Florida’s most trusted healthy gourmet meal delivery service and large-scale food manufacturer. Since inception, Harris scaled his boutique meal delivery service into a food manufacturing behemoth with 300-plus employees, producing over 10 million meals annually in Hollywood, Florida out of a 60,000 square foot USDA/FDA-certified commercial kitchen.

Fun fact: I dabble in competitive poker.

What is your favorite South Florida dining destination? The dining scene in both Miami and Fort Lauderdale have grown throughout the years. I love Milos, Komodo, Makoto, Ember and Prime 112 in Miami. In Fort Lauderdale, Steak 954 and El Vez at the W Hotel are my go-tos.

What do you like to do on weekends? I love to go fishing and love taking my boat out on the weekends. It’s very relaxing and I enjoy being on the water.

How do you unwind from a long day at work? When I get home, I like to cook a nice meal and take in the views of Fort Lauderdale from the balcony. I also enjoy working out, running and working with a trainer. I also enjoy playing golf and tennis.

What is your favorite quote?“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.” —Michael Jordan

From whom, or what, do you draw inspiration? I am truly inspired by my team every day. The DeliverLean team has really helped the company accomplish so much and where we are today. Without the tireless effort our team dedicates every day, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

What has been the biggest accomplishment of your career? This year (2020) has been the most challenging as it has for many others in the community and around the world. We realized we had to help the community, and, during the onset of COVID-19, we launched DeliverLean Cares, a philanthropic division designed to help families in need during the pandemic. Through this effort, we donated over 100,000 meals in coordination with partners including NBA Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning’s Overtown Youth Center, The Miami Marlins and Inter Miami CF Soccer Team. Also, we spearheaded DeliverLean’s effort to provide hundreds of thousands of meals to homebound seniors during the crisis in coordination with Miami Dade County.

What advice would you give an up and coming professional? Don’t sweat the small stuff. There are bigger obstacles that will arise throughout your career that will be much more challenging than the little things you thought were going to hurt your business.

Drew Limsky

Editor-in-Chief

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
