Guy Harvey Foundation Hosts Fundraising Gala to Support Ocean Conservation Efforts

The 16th annual event will be held on Oct. 30.

The Guy Harvey Foundation (GHF) has been hosting a yearly gala to advocate for ocean conservation and marine science education since 2014. This year, the “Love The Blue Gala,” sponsored by Norwegian Cruise Line, will kick off with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, followed by a formal dinner at the Lauderdale Yacht Club, located at 1725 SE 12th St. in Fort Lauderdale.

Once again, Dr. Guy Harvey and his daughter, Jessica Harvey, will co-host the gala, sharing exciting anecdotes and highlighting a year of cutting-edge research and innovative education programs. The evening will include silent and live auctions, offering guests the chance to bid on original Guy Harvey artworks, thrilling trips and unique gift items. For those unable to attend, there will be an opportunity to bid on silent auction items online.

During the “Love The Blue Gala,” the Guy Harvey Foundation will present awards to individuals and organizations that have significantly impacted marine science education and ocean conservation. Jennifer Bakakos, a teacher at Frontier Elementary School in Palm Beach County, will be honored with the Education Award for Outstanding Individual, while the School District of Manatee County will be recognized with the Education Award for Outstanding Organization. Paolo Coen of Grupo Coen will receive the Conservation Award for Outstanding Individual, and Beyond Our Shores will be granted the Conservation Award for Outstanding Organization.

“We are extremely proud to once again honor the exceptional individuals and organizations that share our passion and dedication to advancing marine science education and ocean conservation initiatives,” says GHF CEO Jessica Harvey. “As we celebrate everything they do for our oceans and future generations, I’d like to also thank our wonderful partners, supporters and friends for their continued support to our Foundation. They are the reason we can have such a positive impact on the ocean and its inhabitants.”

The funds raised at the event support GHF’s initiatives for ocean research and education. GHF enhances its marine science curriculum each year for elementary, middle and high school students, drawing from Dr. Harvey’s extensive scientific research. To make marine and environmental science more engaging, GHF offers virtual field trips with hands-on activities that allow students to interact with the environment and explore case studies of environmental issues and success stories worldwide. Additionally, GHF introduced the Guy Harvey Conservation Education Program this year, providing educators and schools with opportunities for regional professional development in environmental STEAM education.

“The incredible support from all the people who believe in our mission is crucial in stewarding the health of our oceans,” says Dr. Harvey. “Thanks to the generosity of our new and longtime partners over the years, we can continue to expand our programs and reach.”

Love The Blue Gala table sponsorships start at $3,500 and individual tickets are $350. To purchase tickets and sponsorships, please visit here.
