Holy Cross Hospital the Latest to Propose New Emergency Department in Broward

Plans are under review for an outpatient center and ER to be built on a property in Fort Lauderdale that's owned by the hospital.

Fort Lauderdale-based Holy Cross Hospital is planning to use a 2.07-acre site at 200 E. Sunrise Boulevard, which they have under contract from Holman Automotive, to build the Holy Cross Comprehensive Outpatient Center and Emergency Department if the city approves its plans this week. There is currently a commercial building on the site that would be demolished if the proposal goes through.

The estimated cost of the Holy Cross project is $31 million and would comprise a two-story medical building and two-level parking deck. The freestanding Emergency Department would include 14 beds, a CT room, an X-ray room and a trauma room. The ground floor would consist of a 10,071-square-foot clinic. Both would be completed in the first phase of the project, while medical office space would be built across 20,000 square feet on the second floor of the building.

More updates will follow as plans progress.
