NAMI Broward County’s yearly “NAMIWalks” event on Oct. 5 at Nova Southeastern University raised more than $140,000. The funds will directly and significantly impact the lives of many in Broward County by aiding mental health initiatives that provide free support services to thousands of people with mental health conditions and their families/caregivers. The occasion brought together the community to advocate for mental wellness and combat the stigma associated with mental health.
Before the Walk began, participants could visit a vendor fair showcasing local organizations and mental health resources. Dr. Joe Oravecz, CEO of NAMI Broward County, and Karen Grosby, Dean of Nova Southeastern University’s College of Psychology, delivered opening remarks.
