See Which Miami Restaurants and Hotels Are Accepting Bitcoin During NFT Week and Bitcoin Conference 2022

With Miami becoming a hub for cryptocurrency companies, the area is also attracting digital currency conferences, with April featuring Miami NFT Week from April 1 to April 3 and Bitcoin Conference 2022 from April 6 to April 9. As the area ushers in a new way to purchase products and invest, some Miami restaurants and hotels have started accepting digital currency as a valid form of payment. So we’ve created a guide on where crypto enthusiasts can dine and pay with cryptocurrency: 

Restaurants

Chotto Matte on Miami Beach 

The global restaurant Chotto Matte offers flavors and ingredients that tastefully blend Japanese and Peruvian culinary traditions. The restaurant is launching its first-ever NFT in conjunction with NFT Week and Bitcoin Conference on April 5. From April 4 to April 10, Chotto Matte will serve a limited edition, Bitcoin-inspired cocktail, the 10/31, featuring Hakushu 12-year-old Japanese Whisky, Cognac, Umeshu Okinawa black sugar, and bitters and a secret set menu, both only available for purchase in Bitcoin. The theatrical drink will be presented with a flammable dollar garnish and flamed before the guest, then revealing a Bitcoin coin. Chotto Matte’s secret menu, featuring opulent dishes like a Wagyu Sirloin, will only be available to those with “Whales” and “Industry” passes.

Mamey in Coral Gables

Mamey by chef Niven Patel is a chic farm-to-table restaurant serving innovative cuisine with Asian, Caribbean and Polynesian influences. Through the property’s partnership with BitPay, Mamey allows guests to utilize Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Dogecoin and four USD-pegged stablecoins (GUSD, USDC, PAX and BUSD) to pay for dining. 

Orno in Coral Gables

Orno is a New American restaurant that offers guests a genuine, farm-to-table experience using locally sourced ingredients from Chef Patel’s farm, Rancho Patel. Specialty cocktails and hand-selected wines compliment chef Patel’s wood-fired culinary creations. Patrons can use cryptocurrency to pay for dining, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Dogecoin and four USD-pegged stablecoins (GUSD, USDC, PAX and BUSD).

Hotels

Shelborne South Beach

Shelborne South Beach, an Art Deco gem, is located on the iconic Ocean Drive and boasts an amazing Oasis Garden, David’s Cafe (serving Cuban coffee) and an iconic Art Deco pool deck for a relaxed vibe and traditional South Beach nostalgia. Shelborne is partnering with BitPay to accept cryptocurrency payments on its websites, by email or in person.

THesis Hotel in Coral Gables

THesis Hotel Miami is a modern property offering guests a sun-filled rooftop pool with tropical views and a poolside bar. THesis Hotel was the first hotel in the Miami area and one of the first nationwide to accept cryptocurrency as payment. Through its partnership with BitPay, THesis Hotel Miami allows guests to utilize Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Dogecoin and four USD-pegged stablecoins (GUSD, USDC, PAX and BUSD) to pay for room reservations, dining and event bookings.

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
