Well-known business leaders and rising stars have been featured on SFBWโs covers during its first five years. One special cover honored the lifetime achievements of the late H. Wayne Huizenga.
January Xavier Gonzalez Gonzalez served as chief operating officer, executive director and CEO of eMerge Americas. In June 2018, he became vice president at Cyxtera Technologies, a Coral Gables company that provides data center colocation, cloud services, cybersecurity and analytics solutions.
February President Barack Obama Obama was depicted in an unstable boat on the cover in an illustration by SFBW designer and artist Frank Papandrea. The story discussed the challenges of doing business in Cuba despite policy easing under the Obama administration.
March Bradley Deckelbaum The leader of his familyโs development company, Premier Developers, talked about Riva, a waterfront condominium project on the Middle River in Fort Lauderdale. Deckelbaum continues to be managing member of Premier.
April Gil Dezer The president of Dezer Development talked about luxury branding on projects with Donald Trump and new projects with the Porsche and Armani names. Dezer continues as president.
May Rick Hayduk The president of Boca Raton Resort & Club talked about investments made by the Blackstone Group, posing in front of a FlowRider for the cover shot. By the end of 2015, Hayduk had a new role as CEO and general manager at Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village
June Delia Passi The CEO and founder of the Womenโs Choice Award, and past publisher of Working Woman magazine, discussed her insights into the female consumer. Passi continues to lead Womenโs Choice Award.
July Mary Spiro The owner of Next Galley talked about building technology around Ceek, a virtual reality world. She continues to lead her company.
August Gerard van Grinsven The CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America talked about elevating treatments and patient experiences. Within a few months, though, he left and formed the van Grinsven Hospitality Group in Boca Raton.
September Steven Sadaka The chairman and CEO of StevenDouglas told how he went from being a frustrated accountant to building a recruiting powerhouse. He continues to lead his company.
October Jim Dunn Dunn told of his journey from selling cars in Chicago Heights to running JM Lexus, the worldโs largest Lexus dealer, as general manager and VP. He retired in January 2019.
November Yamal Ydios The founder of Ytech Internationnal has developed and redeveloped 7,000 housing units involving $1 billion in capital. Ytech recently had a pipeline of more than $1 billion in luxury condominiums and mixed-use projects.
December Jorge Gonzalez Under the leadership of Gonzalez as president and CEO, City National has grown from $3 billion to more than $15 billion in assets. During his tenure, he has overseen the 2015 sale of City National to Banco de Credito e Inversiones and the 2018 acquisition of TotalBank.
