Well-known business leaders and rising stars have been featured on SFBWโs covers during its first five years. One special cover honored the lifetime achievements of the late H. Wayne Huizenga.
January Matthew Jafarian, Jarod Higgins and Jennifer Alvarez This cover provided insight into a trio of innovative leaders on the business side of the Miami Heat and AmericanAirlines Arena. Alvarez is chief of creative content. Jafarian is vice president of digital strategy and innovation. Higgins is executive chef.
February J. David Bogenschutz Bogenschutz, who began as a legal intern in 1969, is one of the most-elite criminal defense attorneys in South Florida. He explained how meticulous preparation is key to his approach.
March Mike Neal As president and CEO, Neal took Kast Construction from a $30 million company to $600 million in revenue. One of its many current projects is 100 Las Olas, at 499 feet the tallest building in Fort Lauderdale.
April Salomon Sredni Sredni built TradeStation into the pre-eminent trading platform for professional traders and later became the chief operating officer of Monex, the Japanese company that purchased it. In 2017, Sredni co-founded ChronWell, which has won several awards addressing problems in the workers compensation field.
May H. Wayne Huizenga A 17-page feature paid tribute to the business icon, who died that March. Huizenga is the only person to build three Fortune 500 companies and also owned the Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins and Florida Panthers.
June Joel Altman Chairman Altman and his Altman Cos. have been trendsetters in multifamily development and management with a $1.07 billion property pipeline at the time of the article. A few months after the article, BBX Capital announced it would buy half of Altman Cos. for $23 million.

August Paul Leone Leone is the leader of The Breakers, the iconic hotel in Palm Beach. He joined the hotel company in 1985 and was appointed CEO of Flagler System and The Breakers in January 2016.

The rail line is building out service to Orlando area and planning more South Florida stations.

November Udonis Haslem Miami Heat captain Udonis Haslem talked about business ventures involving 800 Degrees Woodfired Kitchen, Subway restaurants, Auntie Anneโs Pretzel Shops, Einstein Bros. Bagels and Starbuckโs. He is back with the Heat this season for his record 17th year with the team.
December Scott Etheridge Etheridge is CEO of Arise Virtual Solutions, a Miramar company that allows entrepreneurs to create their own call center businesses. Arise was named a Silver Stevie Award winner at the 17th annual American Business Awards.
