United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention Takes Action to Address Addiction Crisis

The two-day event in May will be held at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center.

The 9th Annual Behavioral Health Conference: The Power of Prevention promotes community awareness and support for behavioral health and substance use prevention. The conference allows professionals in the behavioral and mental health fields to share their insights, research, and best practices in promoting mental health and well-being. The two-day event on May 14 and May 15 highlights the crucial role of prevention strategies in improving overall behavioral health.

The event is hosted by the United Way of Broward County’s Commission on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention in conjunction with the Broward Behavioral Health Coalition and the Florida Department of Children and Families. The event’s purpose is to provide a platform for professionals in the behavioral and mental health fields to share insights, research, and best practices in promoting mental health and well-being. It will also highlight the crucial role of prevention strategies in improving overall behavioral health.

The upcoming conference is set to feature a lineup of renowned psychologists, professors, trauma and grief specialists, leading experts in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and prevention specialists. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from these thought leaders, network with industry peers, and engage in discussions related to research, policy, and practice. The conference tracks will cover a wide range of topics such as Professional Development, Faith-Based Focus, Social Determinants of Behavioral Health, Innovative Initiatives, Trauma-Responsive Initiatives, Youth Prevention Interventions, Collaboration and Integration, and Mental Health Promotion. Licensed clinicians and certified professionals have the opportunity to earn CEU credits. The keynote speakers for this event include Joe Roberts, Jamira Burley, Amanda Andere, and Dr. Mimi Graham. Early registration for $100 ends on April 1, with registration starting April 2 at $125. Breakfast and lunch are included, while business attire is required.
