After nearly two years of cancellations and reduced itineraries, Carnival Cruise Line will have its entire fleet in service with the recent addition of new ship assignments for Port Canaveral and Jacksonville and itineraries and ship assignments from Seattle to Alaska beginning in May.
Carnival manages 10 year-round U.S. homeports and will resume service to all homeports by March. After COVID shut down the entire cruise industry, Carnival resumed operations less than 10 months ago and the cruise line plans to open the Alaska season in May to return its entire fleet to service.
Carnival will begin maneuvering four ships to their new U.S. homeports in early March. The Carnival Elation will move from Port Canaveral to Jacksonville, from Apr. 23 to Oct. 13, 2022. Carnival Freedom will leave Miami to Port Canaveral to replace the Carnival Elation itineraries, effective Apr. 21 through Oct. 15, 2022. Carnival Spirit will resume several sailings previously assigned to Carnival Freedom, including the Apr. 17 Carnival Journeys cruise from Miami through the Panama Canal to Seattle, where it will manage cruises to Alaska from May through September 2022. Carnival Splendor will move to Seattle and take over the Alaska sailings for Carnival Freedom. All itineraries are currently open for booking. Passengers affected by the new itineraries will not have access to their booking for up to two weeks as the cruise line moves the ships to offer similar accommodations.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through this process,” Christine Duffy says, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “We are excited to have every Carnival Cruise Line ship in the fleet sailing again by May and to be back in all 10 of our year-round U.S. homeports. We are also continuing to make plans for a return to guest operations in Australia upon completion of our Alaska season.
