To strengthen its mission of offering holistic services to support domestic violence victims and help them become survivors, No More Tears, a local nonprofit organization, is hosting a celebration of survivors fundraiser. In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October, the organization will host the event from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the La Fuga at the Shorebreak Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. The event aims to help survivors get back on their feet and live a life free of violence.
“Domestic violence doesn’t discriminate — it impacts people no matter their wealth, religion, education, race, gender identity or sexual orientation,” Somy Ali says, the Founder and president of No More Tears and a survivor herself. “I’m proud that since we were founded 15 years ago, we have helped more than 42,000 people in domestic violence and human trafficking situations.”
Attendees of the fundraiser hosted by No More Tears will be treated to two drink tickets and delectable passed bites. This event celebrates and supports domestic violence survivors and allows guests to enjoy the serene ambiance of the La Fuga at the Shorebreak Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. In addition to that, the attendees can participate in an exciting raffle and meet long-time volunteers and strong survivors whom No More Tears have helped. The nonprofit will also share news of upcoming events and volunteer opportunities for the holiday season.
With No More Tears being an entirely volunteer-run nonprofit, guests can be assured that the funds generated from their event ticket, as well as raffle entries, will be utilized directly for paying legal representation, therapy, doctor appointments, rental assistance, groceries and other necessities that are needed to start a new life free of domestic violence.
The event has received generous support from local businesses who have donated raffle items. These businesses include Temple Street Eatery, La Mexicana, Rebel Wine Bar, Autumn Markley Hair Salon, Float8, 4 Weeks 2 the Beach, Dr. Steiger, Skincare by Adriana G, Steiger Facial Plastic Surgery, and more.
Interested guests can purchase tickets on Eventbrite.
