Construction is advancing at Miramar Cove, the 125-acre waterfront destination bringing 2,874 rental apartments and 400,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment to Southwest Broward. Crews have begun foundation work on the footings, the widened, reinforced concrete bases built at the very bottom of a foundation to support a structure, and the first concrete pour on the project’s first two rental apartment buildings.
Foundation work on the third rental apartment building will follow immediately, putting all three of the first phase’s residential buildings under construction. The milestone follows the development’s groundbreaking in May and keeps the first phase on track to open in the fourth quarter of 2028. Construction activity is also advancing at the site’s 5.5-acre cove, where crews are carrying out utility and piping work and installing equipment. The translucent blue water cove will serve as a centerpiece of Miramar Cove’s waterfront dining and entertainment district.
The first building will include 358 rental apartments above approximately 42,000 square feet of ground-floor retail for shops, restaurants and quick-service dining. The second building will include 363 rental apartments above over 60,000 square feet of ground-floor retail for health, wellness, fashion and daily needs along a walkable main street. Both buildings are wrapped around several levels of structured parking, giving shoppers and diners convenient covered parking within steps of the storefronts, restaurants and waterfront. Together, they anchor the development’s western retail district, which pairs everyday convenience with destination dining and lifestyle retail.
Three rental apartment buildings are included in Miramar Cove’s first phase, which will bring 1,062 rental apartments to the site. Phase I also includes:
- Approximately 175,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment
- The 5.5-acre translucent blue water cove by Blue Mar Basin
- Three state-of-the-art water features
- A 185-key full-service hotel
- A waterfront restaurant district with gondola rides
- A walkable shopping street and restaurant row
- Founders Park
- A private beach and beach club for residents
Sunbeam Development Corporation has teamed up with Fort Lauderdale-based Stiles to develop and construct Miramar Cove. The first phase of Miramar Cove is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2028.
