American entrepreneurism is experiencing unprecedented growth and generational change. Last year, 430,000 new businesses opened each month, up from 50% since 2019, according to the Treasury Department. Remote work and AI have given Americans from all walks of life the chance to pursue their dreams. A record 43% of entrepreneurs are now women, and SBA loans to minorities are also surging. No longer tied to San Francisco and New York, entrepreneurs can launch in states with lower costs – a trend that will expand now that the government is providing financial incentives for ‘Tech Hubs’ in 32 states.
Simplify LLC in January released a study on the Best & Worst States for Entrepreneurs in 2025 after analyzing six categories of data from the Census Bureau, Bureau of Economic Analysis, Tax Foundation, and the U.S. Senate. Here is how Florida scored in the six categories analyzed:
- Net migration of educated workers: 76,865 (Rank: 1)
- Job creation rate: 17.72 (Rank: 6)
- Maximum corporate tax rate: 5.5% (Rank: 19)
- Consumer spending growth: 3% (Rank: 21)
- New business growth: -2.6% (Rank: 22)
- Regional inflation: 22% (Rank: 31 (tie))
Florida ranked No. 2 in the 2024 study – falling four spots this year.
