Newgard Development Group Appoints General Contractor for LOFTY Brickell As Foundation Work Begins

G.T. McDonald Enterprises, Inc. will oversee the construction of the high-rise project in Miami.

Newgard Development Group has announced the appointment of G.T. McDonald Enterprises, Inc. as the general contractor for the LOFTY Brickell luxury condominium. The renowned contractor has been brought on board as Newgard has secured a permit to start pouring the building’s foundation, which began on Jan. 1, 2024. The 44-story LOFTY Brickell will be located on the Miami River in the Brickell district of the city.

The collaboration between Newgard and G.T. McDonald is an essential milestone in their ongoing partnership. This comes after their successful cooperation on the Gale Residences Fort Lauderdale Beach project in 2018.

G.T. McDonald, a construction firm headquartered in Plantation, has provided Design-Build and Construction Management services throughout South Florida for over 40 years. The company has a team of more than 80 professionals, including Certified General Contractors and licensed Professional Engineers, who specialize in Engineering and Construction Management. G.T. McDonald has built a reputation as a best-in-class construction firm in the industry. Some noteworthy projects included in its portfolio are 1111 Lincoln Road, Diplomat Tower 100 in Hallandale Beach, The Rise at Flagler Village in Fort Lauderdale, and Monad Terrace in Miami Beach.

“G.T. McDonald is a valued partner of Newgard’s, and its team is ideally suited to oversee the construction of LOFTY Brickell. We are thrilled to expand our working relationship and look forward to going vertical with the building,” Harvey Hernandez says, Newgard founder and CEO.

Newgard’s innovative approach to ownership is exemplified by LOFTY Brickell, which is currently one of the most successful condo projects under development in Miami, with over 94% of units already sold. The estimated time for vertical construction after commencement is between 30 to 36 months.

“G.T. McDonald has a track record for completing quality work on time and on budget, making them the ideal choice for a project of this caliber,” Bromley Kelly says, Newgard Senior Vice President of Construction.

Arquitectonica has designed LOFTY, an impressive residential building that offers 362 units with studios and one- and two-bedroom residences, all furnished by INC. The building is equipped with a range of carefully curated amenities, covering an area of 40,000 square feet, including a private marina, a members-only social club, a resort pool deck, a fitness center, spa facilities, an indoor cigar lounge, a co-working lounge, and meeting rooms. Additionally, the rooftop of LOFTY boasts a versatile 10,000-square-foot skydeck dedicated to unit owners for private events.

“LOFTY will be a tremendous addition to Miami’s skyline and the Brickell district,” Jerry McDonald says, president of G.T. McDonald Enterprises. “Our team will apply its high-rise experience and best practices to deliver LOFTY as another successful project for Newgard.”
