Cruise Ship Reaches Port Everglades to Prepare for Maiden Voyage

As the cruise industry battles Gov. Ron DeSantis over vaccine requirements on ships, Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas cruised into Port Everglades today to prepare for its maiden voyage. The vessel will become the company’s first Quantum Ultra Class cruise ship to sail in the U.S once it departs Port Everglades on July 3.

The ship features 16 decks with a two-level pool deck, the first Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar on a cruise ship and a RipCord by iFly skydiving simulator. Once it’s ready to perform routine sailings, the ship’s itinerary will include six and eight-night Caribbean cruises through 2022.

At 1,138 feet long and 135 feet wide with a cruising speed of 22 knots and over 2,000 staterooms, Odyssey of the Seas joins Royal Caribbean’s next-generation SeaPlex class of ships.
