Jim Moran Institute Accepting Applications for South Florida Executive Programs

The application deadline is Sept. 30.

Applications are now being accepted for the Spring 2024 Small Business Executive Program (SBEP) and Nonprofit Executive Program (NPEP) in South Florida. This program is free of charge for participants. It is made possible by The Jim Moran Foundation and Jan Moran in honor of her late husband, Jim Moran, an esteemed automotive pioneer. The program is organized by The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, which is affiliated with Florida State University.

It’s a special year for the Jim Moran Institute as they celebrate their 10th anniversary of offering executive programs at no cost to the South Florida community. Their dedicated team has guided and graduated 45 classes of over 700 leaders since 2013. They remain committed to working with talented entrepreneurs and leaders in their community.

The SBEP program is tailored for individuals in leadership positions, such as CEOs, entrepreneurs, business owners, and small business presidents. On the other hand, the NPEP is geared toward executive directors, presidents, and CEOs of nonprofit organizations. Graduates of both programs emerge with the necessary skills and training to tackle challenges head-on and transform them into strategic advantages. They also learn to identify and capitalize on business opportunities while implementing best management practices. Participants of these programs come from a diverse range of industries.

“Learning that I’m not the only one going through some of the struggles as a business owner and the opportunity to meet and network with others was what I found to be most beneficial,” Max Zaslavsky says, owner of Max Zaslavsky DMD and a graduate of the SBEP.

The comprehensive series of Executive Programs comprises nine sessions that concentrate on various elements of managing and growing a business or nonprofit. The Spring 2024 sessions will take place bi-weekly from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. between January and May at the Jim Moran Institute’s office in Broward County.

“While it’s easy to get caught up in day-to-day challenges and full inboxes, it is vital that businesses fortify their operations and systems against the next economic surprise around the corner,” Jennifer Kovach says, director of the Jim Moran Institute’s South Florida Operations. “Now is the time to step back, evaluate where your organization is today, and prepare for tomorrow.”

To be considered for the program, it is required that applicants are the primary decision-maker and actively involved in leading their organization. The company must have been established for at least three years and have at least three employees (or volunteers for nonprofit organizations). Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate of completion and the opportunity to participate in ongoing peer roundtables. Graduates are encouraged to attend workshops, conferences, and other events hosted by the Jim Moran Institute.

Drew Limsky

Editor-in-Chief

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico. His other clients have included Four Seasons, Acqualina Resort & Residences, Yahoo!, American Airlines, Wynn, Douglas Elliman and Corcoran. As an adjunct assistant professor, Limsky has taught journalism, film and creative writing at the City University of New York, Pace University, American University and other colleges.
