The Village at Coral Gables Breaks Ground and Celebrates With Harvest Festival

The 48-residence collection developed by MG Developer is slated for completion by the second quarter of 2025.

Led by Alirio Torrealba, MG Developer in Miami recently held a successful groundbreaking ceremony and Harvest Festival for The Village at Coral Gables. This residential development is highly anticipated and pays tribute to Seville, Spain’s aesthetic beauty and lifestyle. The project continues the legacy of George Merrick, the founder of Coral Gables, and his vision for “The City Beautiful.”

Over 600 guests attended the ceremony, including Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago, Mark Trowbridge – president of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Mayi de la Vega – Founder and CEO of One Sotheby’s International Realty, President Daniel de la Vega, residents, neighboring residents, and buyers attended the event, marking the official commencement of construction for this remarkable enclave.

“I’m beyond words today,” Alirio Torrealba says, CEO and Founder of MG Developer. “I feel truly proud to be able to celebrate the groundbreaking of The Village at Coral Gables with all of you and share in this auspicious occasion. It’s been a true labor of love for me and for everyone at MG Developer, my family, our partners, our investors, the entire community. They have all entrusted us to build a beautiful enclave that is part of the vision George Merrick had when he founded Coral Gables in 1925 and that is exactly what we are doing now.”

After the groundbreaking ceremony, guests enjoyed a memorable experience at the “The Village Harvest Festival.” The festival brought together families and community residents to celebrate the arrival of The Village at Coral Gables and the Fall Season. The event featured a farmer’s market with local artisans and fun carnival activities such as face painting, bounce houses, and more.

The Village at Coral Gables is a residential development comprising 48 residences that will occupy 17 lots bordered by Malaga Avenue, Santander Avenue, Segovia Street and Hernando Street. The collection will feature townhomes, lofts, villas, and flats in different styles and sizes. From the sophisticated apartments of two bedrooms with a study room and a balcony to the charming four-bedroom townhomes that range from 1,750 square feet to 3,100 square feet, each unit has been designed to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of the residents. Merrick’s seven villages have inspired the Mediterranean Revival-style architecture of The Village at Coral Gables and have been designed by De La Guardia Victoria Architects & Urbanists. The development will integrate gardens, courtyards, and fountains inspired by the alcoves in the Plaza de España, making it an exquisite place to call home.

The Village at Coral Gables will provide residents with a variety of leisure facilities, such as a wellness clubhouse, indoor and outdoor terrace lounge, fitness wing, plunge pool, library, conference center and high-speed Wi-Fi – giving a new definition to modern living in the historic location of Coral Gables. The residential complex is conveniently located within walking distance of Downtown Coral Gables, golf courses, the Lowe’s Hotel, Biltmore Hotel, cultural attractions and popular dining venues, providing residents with the finest South Florida lifestyle.

“The Village at Coral Gables is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of our city,’ Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago says. “George Merrick’s vision for ‘The City Beautiful’ lives on in this exceptional project. I am immensely proud of Alirio for his dedication in bringing his vision to life, creating a lasting legacy that will enhance the fabric of Coral Gables for generations to come.”
