Brazil’s Bauducco Foods opens U.S. headquarters, expects to create 200 jobs

Bauducco Foods, a leading manufacturer of baked goods in Brazil, has opened its U.S. headquarters in Miami.

Bauducco Foods USA is also gearing up to produce baked goods at the location and also manufacture baking equipment for regional U.S. bakeries. Over the next two years, Bauducco Foods USA expects to create 200 manufacturing jobs in the Miami area.

The company broke ground last year on its expansion at 1705 NW 133rd Ave., where its 70,000-square-foot bakery will produce panettone and other specialty cakes, as well as a variety of cookies, wafers and toasts. Panettone is a sweet bread that originated from Milan, but it has become popular in much of Europe and Latin America.

The company will have 35,000 square feet to produce the bakery equipment.

“We are very excited to be expanding to fulfill the increasing demand for our products being sold at major grocery and retail stores,” Erik Volavicius, marketing manager of Bauducco Foods, said in a press release.

The company’s products were introduced in the U.S. market in 1978 and the production lines in Miami will be the first outside of Brazil.

Carlo Bauducco founded the company in 1952 in Sao Paulo and it bills itself as the largest maker of panettone in the world, exporting to 80 countries. Bauducco employs 3,000 full-time and 2,300 seasonal workers.

The expansion was hailed by CAMACOL the Latin American Chamber of Commerce.

“Bauducco is a trustee member of CAMACOL, and we are enthusiastic about guiding them through their expansion in the U.S.,” said CAMACOL President Nelson Tarke. “Our focus and our goal is to promote our members and foster economic development and job creation.”
