GREAT PLACES AND SPACES

The Fusion Group

On the outside, it looks like a typical, low-rise suburban office park. But step inside the doors of The Fusion Group in Weston, and it’s like falling down the rabbit hole in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The journey starts just inside the doorway, which is called “the park.” It has comfortable curved sofas and lush green plants surrounding a babbling black-marble fountain. If it sounds very Zen, you should know Fusion chairwoman Jennifer René St. John is a master in Taiji, an ancient Chinese philosophy. She says the circular shape symbolizes the ethical compass that should be the foundation of any business. The office space has plenty of artwork, including a conference room with a three-piece painting of a baby. It fits perfectly because the space was designed with it in mind.

Bijou Bay Harbor

The town of Bay Harbor Islands, between North Miami and Bal Harbour, has turned into yet another redevelopment hot spot in Miami-Dade County. There are more than 14 projects recently completed or under construction and another dozen being planned or proposed. Bijou Bay Harbor, which broke ground in early 2017, is a nine-story, 41-unit condominium project with units from 900 to more than 2,000 square feet. Prices range from $655,900 to more than $1.59 million. Among the features is a rooftop lounge with two swimming pools and a table with a fireplace. The developer is Ability by Acierto and the interiors were designed by Adriana Hoyos. More at bijoubayharbor.com.

Plantation Walk

Encore Capital Management has demolished the 1 million-square-foot former Plantation Fashion Mall to make room for Plantation Walk, a 32-acre, $350-million, pedestrian-friendly development with 200,000 square feet of shops and restaurants and 700 luxury rentals. An existing 160,000-square-foot Class A office building is undergoing renovation after being stripped to its shell. The 263-room Sheraton hotel is being renovated but is still open. The infrastructure underway includes water and sewer lines, pavers, green spaces, walkways and lush landscaping that will shape the property’s border. The project is near the northwestern corner of Broward Boulevard and University Drive. A profile of Encore Managing Principal Arthur Falcone can be found at SFBWmag.com.
