LEGACY Unveils Game-Changing Fort Lauderdale Renovation

LEGACY, the renowned fitness brand by visionary entrepreneur Manning Sumner, has unveiled a major expansion of the brand’s Fort Lauderdale facility. Redefining the fitness landscape in the area, the location’s renovation has nearly doubled it in size to a sprawling 9,200 square-feet offering group classes, open gym space, personal training and a handful of recovery amenities.

Sumner founded LEGACY as “Legacy Fit” in 2008 in Wynwood. Today, the brand has six locations throughout South Florida (Coral Gables, Doral, Kendall, Pembroke Pines, Fort Lauderdale and Wynwood), with new Little River headquarters slated to open fall 2024 followed by a location in Nashville in 2025. At the core of the LEGACY experience is Sumner’s proprietary Partner Interval Training (PIT) system, a groundbreaking approach that integrates HIIT and resistance training to optimize performance and metabolic efficiency.

Along with LEGACY, Sumner is also the CEO and founder of No Days Off, a lifestyle brand which includes apparel and NDO H2O, an ultra-premium water brand. Launched in 2023, NDO H2O has quickly established itself and is now the official premium water of the Miami HEAT and Kaseya Center.

The decision to renovate Fort Lauderdale stemmed from the resounding success of the Wynwood Headquarters opening in 2022; and while the brand continues to expand, its fundamental values remain unchanged: offering an experience-driven, community-oriented space where members feel motivated, supported, and accountable. Gigi Giusti, Sumner’s business partner at LEGACY’s Fort Lauderdale location, played an important role in fostering a strong community of members, ultimately paving the way for the expansion to become a reality. Giusti continues to work alongside Sumner in day to day operations.

While the look and feel is now more elevated, the facility’s transformation isn’t just cosmetic; it is a reimagination of what a fitness center can be. From gym offerings to spa facilities, cold plunges, sauna, physical therapy room, and a smoothie bar & lounge, LEGACY’s revamped Fort Lauderdale location is more than just a gym—it’s a lifestyle destination.

Address: 500 S Andrews Ave Unit 120, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301

BIOGRAPHY

Drew Limsky joined Lifestyle Media Group in August 2020 as Editor-in-Chief of South Florida Business & Wealth. His first issue of SFBW, October 2020, heralded a reimagined structure, with new content categories and a slew of fresh visual themes. “As sort of a cross between Forbes and Robb Report, with a dash of GQ and Vogue,” Limsky says, “SFBW reflects South Florida’s increasingly sophisticated and dynamic business and cultural landscape.”

Limsky, an avid traveler, swimmer and film buff who holds a law degree and Ph.D. from New York University, likes to say, “I’m a doctor, but I can’t operate—except on your brand.” He wrote his dissertation on the nonfiction work of Joan Didion. Prior to that, Limsky received his B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Emory University and earned his M.A. in literature at American University in connection with a Masters Scholar Award fellowship.

Limsky came to SFBW at the apex of a storied career in journalism and publishing that includes six previous lead editorial roles, including for some of the world’s best-known brands. He served as global editor-in-chief of Lexus magazine, founding editor-in-chief of custom lifestyle magazines for Cadillac and Holland America Line, and was the founding editor-in-chief of Modern Luxury Interiors South Florida. He also was the executive editor for B2B magazines for Acura and Honda Financial Services, and he served as travel editor for Conde Nast. Magazines under Limsky’s editorship have garnered more than 75 industry awards.

He has also written for many of the country’s top newspapers and magazines, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, Boston Globe, USA Today, Worth, Robb Report, Afar, Time Out New York, National Geographic Traveler, Men’s Journal, Ritz-Carlton, Elite Traveler, Florida Design, Metropolis and Architectural Digest Mexico.
