Alan B. Levan and the NSU Broward Center of Innovation (Levan Center of Innovation), in partnership with Maverc Technologies, are accepting applications for exclusive Cybersecurity Training Programs tailored for Veterans. These advanced programs are geared towards boosting the cybersecurity skills of Veterans and providing them with the in-demand expertise needed in today’s rapidly changing digital environment.
Veterans will have the opportunity to receive free cybersecurity training, which could be life-changing for those looking to enter or advance in the cyber field. The Cybersecurity Training Program offers two distinct training tracks: Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) and Security Operations Center (SOC) 101.
Participants can learn from industry experts and acquire technical skills and real-world experience. The Levan Center’s military-grade Cyber Range is the only one in the Southeast United States. Additionally, veterans will benefit from mentorship, career guidance, and job placement support to aid in their transition into cybersecurity roles.
Key features of the program include:
- Hands-on simulations and live exercises in a military-grade Cyber Range.
- An industry-aligned curriculum based on standards like NIST NICE and MITRE ATT&CK.
- Career-readiness workshops covering resume building, interview techniques, and networking strategies.
- Mentorship from seasoned cybersecurity professionals to support long-term career development.
The program’s first session is scheduled from Nov. 4 to Dec. 20, 2024, followed by a second session from Jan. 13 to Feb. 17, 2025. It offers virtual and hybrid training options to cater to Veterans nationwide. The training sessions will run for 20 hours per week, with live and virtual events scheduled from noon to 5 p.m. ET.
“Cybersecurity is one of the most critical industries of the future, and the demand for skilled professionals is skyrocketing,” says Mili Peluso, Deputy Executive Director of the Levan Center of Innovation. “We are proud to offer Veterans a pathway to rewarding careers through these world-class programs, which will not only build their technical abilities but also provide mentorship and job-readiness training.”
The current global cybersecurity workforce gap stands at an estimated 3.4 million professionals, with 750,000 unfilled positions in the U.S. alone, highlighting the unprecedented demand for cybersecurity talent. With advancing technology, businesses and governments face escalating security threats, underscoring the critical role of skilled cybersecurity professionals in mitigating these risks.
The cybersecurity industry is expected to grow from $193.73 billion in 2024 to $562.72 billion by 2032, providing significant prospects for career advancement. Industry estimates indicate that cybersecurity professionals receive competitive salaries, with entry-level positions starting at $58,000 annually, mid-career roles averaging $91,490, and senior positions like Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) earning $215,000 or more.
“Veterans are uniquely suited to excel in cybersecurity roles due to their disciplined training, critical thinking skills, and mission-driven mindset,” says Ross Seay, Senior Managing Partner, Maverc Technologies. “This program gives them the tools they need to secure high-paying jobs in a growing industry that is integral to national security and the broader economy.”
