Upcoming Moxy South Beach announces dining and drinking concepts

What’s better than the announcement of a new Miami Beach hotel? The announcement of new concepts within the hotel that everyone can enjoy.

The new Moxy South Beach, set to open in January, will include six new drinking and dining concepts from the founders of Coyo Taco and 1-800-Lucky thanks to a partnership with Moxy developer Lightstone. With the popularity of both concepts locally (Coyo has several locations in the area), it’s safe to say that the six concepts will be instant hits.

“Miami offers such a rich vein of experiences that can only be found there,” says Mitchell Hochberg, president of the New York-based Lightstone, which has developed three Moxy hotels in the city. “Everything in Miami — the food, the art, the fashion, the nightlife — reflects the city’s diversity. We knew that in order to create restaurants and bars that attract a real intermingling of guests and locals, we would need to work with a partner that embraced the city’s colorful personality. We’re excited to partner with one of Miami’s most popular and successful restauranteurs to create concepts that are both innovative and authentically Miami.”

The new restaurants and bars include Como Como, a marisquería (seafood) restaurant and raw bar; Mezcalista, a sexy mezcal lounge; Serena, an open-air rooftop restaurant and bar serving hand-crafted cocktails and seasonal dishes; Los Buenos, an all-day taco stand / bodega in the lobby, complemented by Bar Moxy, which does double duty as a social hub and contactless check-in area; and The Upside, a rooftop bar on the eighth floor with panoramic Miami Beach views, exclusively for hotel guests and private events.

“This exciting partnership with Moxy South Beach gives us an opportunity to expand our creativity, showcasing our love for Miami’s diverse cultures and exploration of cuisines across regions,” says Alan Drummond, Co-Founder of Coyo Taco and 1-800-Lucky. “We pride ourselves in offering menus and experiences that transcend generations and demographics, just like Moxy Hotels, so we couldn’t be more thrilled for this like-minded collaboration to come to life.”

Moxy Miami Beach is the latest of the Moxy concepts, launched by Marriott International in September 2014. With locations in Europe and Asia, the brand is described as a boutique-hotel concept for the next-gen traveler that combines stylish design and approachable service at an affordable price point. The 202-room Moxy South Beach on Washington Avenue will be the Moxy brand’s first resort property, offering dining, drinking, lounging, and co-working options that modern, design-focused travelers at an affordable price. Inspired by Miami’s culture, interiors by Rockwell Group and restaurant and bar interiors by Saladino Design Studio mix the glamour of midcentury Havana, the sophistication of contemporary Mexico City.
