Leaders convene at the 3rd Annual South Florida Addiction Prevention & Solutions Summit as new data shows Broward County reporting the lowest overdose death rate among peer counties.

More than 250 healthcare professionals, educators, law enforcement leaders, and policymakers gathered at The Diplomat Beach Resort for the 3rd Annual South Florida Addiction Prevention & Solutions Summit, presented by United Way Broward’s Coalition on Behavioral Health & Drug Prevention. The convening highlighted new data showing Broward County now has the lowest overdose death rate among peer counties, a milestone attributed to coordinated, evidence-based strategies and cross-sector collaboration. Keynote speaker Dr. Kevin A. Sabet joined local leaders in outlining next steps, including updates to the 2026–2029 Opioid Action Plan, reinforcing the region’s continued commitment to prevention, transparency, and measurable impact.
