Courtney Crush, a land use attorney and longtime community leader, was honored as the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce’s Downtowner of the Year on Thursday.
Both the city of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County presented proclamations hailing Crush during a luncheon that packed the Global Event Center at First Baptist Church.
Crush has played a key role in shaping modern Fort Lauderdale as a land use attorney who has helped developers navigate the sometimes perilous approval process in the city as it evolved from a beach town to a cosmopolitan city. Her 20-year practice includes platting, re-zonings and site plan permitting for mixed used development projects, including hotels, condominium hotels and commercial office buildings.
Crush is past chairwoman of the chamber and has been chairwoman of the Riverwalk Trust board since 2012. She is also on the executive committee of Habitat for Humanity of Broward.
She was honored as Fort Lauderdale’s Citizen of the Year in 2008.
