Lifestyle Media Group, SFBW named Small Business of the Year

Lifestyle Media Group and South Florida Business & Wealth were named a Small Business of the Year by the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce on Friday.

LMG, which includes SFBW and 10 lifestyle publications, was the winner in the New Small Business Honorees Category. SFBW was launched in September and Lifestyle Media Group was purchased less than four years ago by a group led by Chairman and CEO Gary Press.

The New Small Business category had 14 honorees. The other finalists recognized on stage were Circles of Fun and attorney Marty L. Elberg’s Circle of Life Legal Services.

Legacy Bank was the winner in the Established Small Business Category, which had 16 honorees and three finalists. Legacy Bank of Florida, founded in 2006, is a locally owned and managed community bank with offices in Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Delray Beach and Pompano Beach.

The other finalists were Lightship Media and Oriental Rug Care.

Tomorrow’s Rainbow was honored as nonprofit organization of the year. The organization uses miniature horses as part of a grief counseling program for children who have lost a close loved one.

Abby Mosher, founder and executive director of Tomorrow’s Rainbow, was also honored as the Small Business Person of the Year.

Mosher founded the organization in the aftermath of a traffic accident that killed her husband Paul. She and her son Dustin received grief support via their insurance company, but Mosher founded Tomorrow’s Rainbow after realizing that many children did not have that benefit.

The non profit category had four honorees and the other finalists were Rebuilding Together Broward County and National Christian Foundation South Florida.
