Florida Ranks High in Small Business Startup Environment

According to the popular online marketplace Lendio, Florida scored high in business lending, educated worker migration, and other key measures.

Lendio, the free online loan marketplace, released a study on the best states to start a small business, using the most recent data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Census Bureau, and the Small Business Administration from 2016-2023. Florida ranked No. 2, second only to Texas. Lendio explored trends in nine metrics that are critical to the success of small business owners in 2023’s rapidly changing and uncertain landscape. These metrics included small business lending, cost of living, real estate data, educated worker migration, corporate tax rates and state-level incentives for business owners.
